Yorkshire Button Kit:
Despite the name, there is no evidence of an historic industry or tradition in Yorkshire regarding this button making technique. In fact, making this type of button using a homemade template or loom seems to have appeared in the 1980s or so - a relative newcomer. Gina-B Silkworks then developed these looms into a graduated set of reusable tools, to create the original Yorkshire Button Kit, produced in a range of styles and sizes as well as creating original patterns for using these looms.

Yorkshire buttons are very similar in technique to the traditional Dorset buttons. However, they are made on a little loom, and then stuffed to create a ball or flat shape. They can be made using leftover wool and thread from projects; in fact they often work best with thicker thread. The resulting buttons are very tactile, and lots of fun.

Despite the name, there is no evidence or tradition of an historic industry or tradition in Yorkshire regarding this button making technique.
