Sally Darlison

I have always been attracted to textiles, which explains why they have become the main medium my creative expression.

I delight in exploring the diversity of available techniques and incorporating them in my work. Inspiration is drawn from the world around me.

'On Track -the 109- Balwyn'

I use my art to express some ideas about the complexity of human nature. My recent work has often contained maps or a reference to maps.

'Follow the Yarra'

I love maps and stories that go with them.

'Follow the Yarra' - detail

Creating both 2D and 3D pieces, my work includes hand dyed and printed fabric and paper, hand and machine embroidery, silk paper, and felt.

'Book Of Knowledge'

I tend to have an idea and use the material and technique that is needed to resolve it.

'All Consuming'

I have exhibited widely and completed many commissions for both national and overseas clients.

'On Track- the 109- Richmond'
I have a background in teaching and have been successful in combining a love of textile art and teaching by working as an artist in residence in many schools over the past 7 years.

'The Open Road'
