Papers, Films, Textures Lutradur
As seen in Cloth Paper Scissors issues 1 and 10. A spun bound, non woven fabric that is lightweight and delicate but strong. It may be painted using acrylic, fabric or transfer paints. Also computer printed, drawn on, stamped, stitched by hand or machine, and burned with a soldering iron. It does not fray or unravel, and can be heat set. Comes in three thicknesses, 30 gsm (lightweight), 70 gsm, (mediumweight) and 100 gsm (heavyweight). The lightweight is wonderful for layering, and comes in white, black and four metallic shades. 70 and 100 gsm in white only.

Lamifix is a clear, iron on plastic film that comes in matt or gloss. Use it to seal your work on paper or fabric. Lamifix can be used to great effect for laminating seeds and fabrics. When two pieces of Lamifix are fused together they become quite stiff. Try cutting out shapes with your soldering iron. Experiment with Laminfix. Iron two pieces the same size with the fusible sides together, then decorate with transfer paints. Use a heat gun to distress your work. While it is hot, try shaping, and moulding. Explore, experiment and enjoy.
Lamifix can be washed gently up to 40 degrees.

Artists' papers, for watercolour and all painting and drawing media. Made from hand made paper in South India, from recycled cotton rag. The cotton rag fibres are beaten in a hollander beater which circulates the shredded rags in water, mechanically crushing and opening out the cotton fibres to produce an even consistent pulp. All handmade paper is made sheet by sheet on a hand held papermaking mould.

Tyvekfilm is a non-toxic Tyvek sheet of bonded, spun polyethylene fibres, available in three different weights. With the applicaton of heat, it changes form, shrinking, bubbling and distorting, to give a range of interesting surface textures. Its 3D qualities and durability, give exciting possibilities to all those involved in the fields of Decorative Arts and Crafts. It can be stitched by hand and/or machine, and will not rip or tear. Tyvekfilm can be coloured before or after distortion, in a variety of ways, from coloured pencils and felt pens, through to fabric paints - any medium which can safely withstand the heat of an iron or heat gun.
