Picking up the thread and walking backwards along the twisting paths has reminded me of many connections which, like the ripples coming back from the far shore when a stone is thrown in the water will cross with others in an ever changing pattern. Many connections cannot be seen on the outward journey. It would be impossible to tell what a baby will look like when grown, but seeing pictures of a persons younger selves, it is easy to say - oh yes, you can see that nose, those eyes or that mannerism. Likewise, seeing backwards, a movement from moment to moment may leave the impression of a coherent direction.

I am convinced that if your mind is open and ready it is possible to see connections between every step and facet of our lives. I have found so many coincidences between my personal experience, commissions, art work and chance meetings that it has to be the entirety of a persons existence that bears on each moment of life and each new work. Each experience and moment will link to another, though rarely in an ordered, logical sequence. The work for this series has involved reflecting upon some of these inspirations for creativity and negotiating tangled webs to bring the ideas to fruition.
