Flower Designs
From the author - -
Introduction
Many people who enjoy craft work of all kinds find it very difficult to create their own designs. I have found that if I give my students a simple line drawing to get them started, all sorts of ideas start to flow and it is amazing to see how individually and creatively they each interpret the same drawing. The flower designs in this book are intended to get you over the design barrier so you can simply enjoy choosing your colours, textures and methods without worrying about the initial drawing of the design.About the designs
Flowers are one of the best loved subjects for decorative work. They have inspired artists and craftspeople through the ages and flower designs are as popular today as ever. Flowers make beautiful designs both when depicted realistically and in decorative, stylised ways. In my own work as a textile designer and silk painter, I find them a constant source of inspiration and they are always a favourite subject with my students.Use the flower motifs as they are or make several copies and stick them together to form a pattern. There are borders, repeating panels and designs for items such as cushion covers, cards or wall hangings. When planning your craft work, you might like to look at real flowers or good photographs to give you ideas for colours and textures.
And finally
I hope you enjoy using these designs as much as I enjoyed drawing them and that they will provide a starting point from which your own creative ideas can blossom.Soft cover, 41 pages.
